Things to Do & See in Mills County


Mills Country Historical Museum

Located at the intersection of Fisher and Third Street in downtown Goldthwaite, the museum is open Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Goldthwaite Municipal Golf Course

Located two miles south of Goldthwaite on Highway 16, the course offers nine holes with a par 36. It's open to the public seven days a week.

Central Texas Country Fair

Held at the Goldthwaite City Park on the Saturday before Memorial Day in May, the fair offers food booths, arts and crafts, a flea market, a fire department barbeque lunch and Lions Club™ fry for supper. This fair is sponsored by the Goldthwaite Lions Club.


Texas Friendship Wagon Train

This is a family-oriented ride day for all week, over trails in Mills County. This annual event begins the third weekend in April. There is no charge, but donations are accepted.

Barbeque Goat Cook-Off

Enjoy the country and meat of Central Texas at its best. This event is held annually on the fourth Saturday in April at the Goldthwaite City Park and is sponsored by the Mills Country Chamber of Commerce. It features fun and games for all, including arts and crafts booths and live bands.

Regency Suspension Bridge and Wildflower Tour

The starting point and historical maker information in Goldthwaite is located at the intersection of FM 574 and Highway 183. Drive out about 19 miles and take the country road to the left off FM 574 to Regency. The only thing left at Regency is the abandoned country store. Continue straight for one mile to the suspension bridge, or continue on this road for about seven miles until it intersects FM 574. The road turns right and returns to Goldthwaite.
